What is Occupational Therapy for babies?

  • Occupational Therapists (OTs) help facilitate participation and independence in every day 'occupations.' Baby's occupations are eating, playing, sleeping, bonding with their families, and reaching developmental milestones within their own timeline.

  • OTs use a holistic approach by looking at the various factors that affect a baby's development including sensory systems, behavioral organization, muscle tone, coordination, and environment. This also includes wellness for supporting the way a baby experiences their world.

Benefits of Developmental Support:

  • Does your baby hate tummy time? Are you concerned about your baby not rolling yet? Is your baby using one hand more than the other?

  • A developmental consult will provide you with personalized activities for your baby in their own environment. These activities will meet your baby where they are at and be based on their current skills and body type/tone.

Benefits of Infant Massage:

  • Stimulation to improve muscular development and sensory integration

  • Relaxation to improve sleep patterns and regulation of behavior

  • Relief to improve gas/constipation or muscle tightness

  • Interaction to improve bonding and attachment
